To meet the needs of aspiring and current Web Developers, the Web Design Training Program offers a certification designation derived from the Internet/Web Technology State-of-the-Art Certificate of Professional Achievement in Webmaster Technology programs in partnership with the World Organization of Webmasters and its US affiliate,

The World Wide Web is industry's most powerful new communication tool. Every Company in the World today, developing new business and/or marketing plans to expand their customer base, will have an Internet component. This is primarily due to the following:

  • The standard of quality and sophistication in Web pages has risen significantly, both on the Internet and in internal, corporate Intranet applications of Web technology.

The Web Design Training Program is designed to help individuals and businesses develop the skills they need to be competitive in today's rapidly growing market for Web and Internet communication practitioners.

By participating in the Web Design Training Program, students acquire the knowledge and skills to define requirements and to develop and maintain Web pages on the Internet. Program content is updated routinely to reflect the rapidly evolving arena of new technologies, tools and techniques.

The primary objective of the Web Design Training Program is to provide professionals with the related skills and technological tools needed to successfully implement a Web presence that meets business needs and provides a competitive advantage.

Program Prerequisites

Minimal previous Internet or Web technology expertise is required for participation in the program. Although, some familiarity with the Internet, HTML and Web development tools is highly desired and recommended.


  • Experience with basic word processing applications
  • Experience using Internet tools and services, including browsers and accessing the Web
  • Experience with the HTML markup language, either using a text editor or an HTML WYSIWYG editor
  • Familiarity with the operation of a personal computer equipped with Windows 95/98 0r NT operating system
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or comparable image editing application
  • Home access to a Pentium PC or comparable computer (including Apple Macintosh PowerPC)
  • Home Internet access via modem, cable, ISDN, etc.
  • Home access to Adobe Photoshop or comparable image editing application


  • Experience managing, leading or participating on a project team
  • Knowledge of general concepts in Project Management; Scope, Time, Cost, Human Resource, Communications, Risk, Procurement
  • Graphic design experience or training

Certificate Requirements
Due to the accelerated pace of change in the technologies and practices in this field, the Web Development Certification curriculum is continually evaluated and updated.

The program comprises key core courses taken from the Internet/Web Technology State-of-the-Art Certificate of Professional Achievement in Webmaster Technology programs. These courses were specifically selected to provide you with the appropriate knowledge and skills needed for effective Web development. These core courses are supplemented with one-day, topic-specific seminars.

Individuals who complete the Web Development Certification Program earn a professional designation and acquire skills that can be applied immediately in the marketplace.

To qualify for the certificate designation, candidates must successfully complete the program and seminars of instruction with a grade of B- or higher. Certificates are awarded after the completion of the prescribed curriculum, assignments and a capstone web site project.

Admission to Program

Applicants complete and return an Web Design Training Program application along with a copy of their current resume. The application is available on line here. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission to the program will be determined after review of the application and accompanying materials by the Certificate Admissions Committee.

Notification of acceptance and attendance in the prerequisite course will be provided within 2 weeks of receipt of the application. Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tuition and Payment

Tuition for the program is $1750.00. (Revised 12/3/1999)
Please, note that tuition must be received two weeks prior to the program start date. Students are not considered registered until payment is received or a payment plan is authorized.

Cancellations, Withdrawals And Refunds
The Web Design Training Shool reserves the right to limit enrollment, reschedule classes or cancel courses as a result of insufficient enrollment.

Refund Policy
Students who wish to cancel their registration and receive a tuition refund must state their intention to withdraw by completing a course Add/Drop form and submitting it to the office. Tuition will be refunded based on the following schedule:

Withdraw before the second class meeting 100%
Withdraw before fourth class meeting 75%
Withdraw after fourth class meeting No refund

Career Services

AZXZA provides career management and planning seminars for students participating in the Accelerated Web Development Program. Seminars cover a variety of career management and career planning topics relevant to today’s job market. The seminars are optional and not required to complete the certificate program. Additional information regarding the seminars, including dates and times, is provided at the Accelerated Web Development Program orientation session.

Accelerated Web Development Program students are eligible for the career-related resources. These resources include resume and cover letter preparation, job search references, web page access, salary surveys, and position directories.

Additional career service assistance is available to students through the World Organization of Webmasters and other professional industry organizations.

The World Organization of Webmasters’ mission is to support and enhance the role of individuals and organizations who create, manage and/or market web sites.
